Drive for 35
Drive for 35

The Mississauga NDP riding associations have pooled resources and launched a Mississauga-wide initiative to define a strategy and execute a plan to improve the percentage of vote in Mississauga.  This initiative is called The Drive for 35.  The key objectives are to improve the percentage of vote in the 2011 provincial election to the Ontario average of 25% achieved in the 2011 federal  election, and to attain 35% of the popular vote and get NDP representation from Mississauga in the 42nd parliament of Canada.

41st Federal Election May 02, 2011: Analysis.

With the 41st federal Election behind us it is time to reflect on the results and decide what to do going forward.  The tables below show the results for Canada, Ontario and Mississauga.

The NDP approximately doubled the percentage of the popular vote from the 2008 federal election across the board.

While the NDP percent of vote also doubled in Mississauga, the Mississauga ridings trail the NDP percentage of vote for Canada and Ontario and the Conservative and Liberal percentage of vote is highest in Mississauga (See table below).  This presents some challenges specific to the Mississauga NDP.
